Q. What is adoption?

Q. I'm divorced and rent an apartment. Can I adopt?
A. Yes. You can adopt a child if you're single, married, divorced or widowed, and you don't have to own your home to adopt a child.

Q. What does an adoption caseworker do?
A. Your caseworker will:

  • Help you become matched with a suitable birth mother.
  • Introduce you to prospective birth mother and arrange meetings between you and the birth mother.
  • Provide you with social and genetic background information in regards to the birth mother, birth father and their families.
  • Visit with you a minimum of five times after placement of the new born child in your home and prior to the adoption finalization.
